Brief Profile of the centre:

      

             IGNOU and the Establishment of the Learner Support Centre (LSC) at Our College Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), established in 1985 through an Act of Parliament, was founded with the vision of democratizing higher education by making it accessible, flexible, and affordable to all segments of society. As the world’s largest open university, IGNOU has been a pioneer in open and distance learning, offering a wide range of academic programs—from certificates to doctoral degrees—to millions of learners across India and abroad.

       In alignment with IGNOU’s mission to reach the unreached and provide inclusive education, a Learner Support Centre (LSC) has been established at our college in 2021. The Code no of LSC is 2656.The rationale behind setting up this center is rooted in our shared commitment to community development, academic excellence, and expanding educational opportunities for students who may be unable to pursue regular full-time courses due to personal, professional, or geographical constraints.

       Our college serves as an ideal location for an LSC due to its accessible infrastructure, academic environment, and dedicated faculty support. The LSC functions as a local hub for academic guidance, counseling, assignment submission, and examination facilitation, ensuring that IGNOU learners in the region receive timely support and resources to succeed in their studies.

Through this initiative, we aim to bridge the gap between distance learners and quality higher education, reinforcing our role in building an educated and empowered society.

Eligibility and Course Detail


MASTER OF ARTS (ENGLISH)

The IGNOU MA in English (MEG) program offers a comprehensive study of English language and literature with options for specialization. It's a 64-credit program with a minimum duration of 2 years and a maximum of 5 years. Eligibility requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher from a recognized University. The program aims to develop students' critical and analytical skills in language and literature. 

Course Details:

  • Structure: The program has a two-tier structure: five compulsory core courses (MEG-01 to MEG-05) and three optional courses. 
  • Duration: Minimum 2 years, maximum 5 years. 
  • Credits: 64 credits in total. 
  • Medium: English. 
  • Focus: The program aims to provide learners with a sound base in language and exposure to a wide range of literature, with options for specialisation. 

Eligibility:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from a recognized University. 

Fees:

  • The fee structure is available on the IGNOU website.
  • Note that exam fees are not included in the fee structure and are determined by the University. 

 

MAPY(Master of Arts in Philosophy)

The IGNOU MAPY (Master of Arts in Philosophy) program is a distance learning course that requires a Bachelor's degree from a UGC-approved university. The minimum duration is 2 years, and the maximum duration is 5 years. There are no age restrictions for enrollment. The course fee is Rs. 7,300. 

Course Details:

  • Program Structure:

The program is structured with compulsory courses (16 credits) and elective courses (48 credits), totaling 64 credits for completion.

  • Course Delivery:

The program is offered only in English, but students can write exams in Hindi.

  • Objective:

The program aims to provide an opportunity for candidates in the Open Distance Learning (ODL) system to pursue studies in Philosophy, catering to those in-service and those seeking to appear for competitive exams like UPSC and PSC. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor's Degree: A candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a UGC-approved university.
  • Marks Relaxation: A 5% relaxation in marks is available for reserved categories like OBC, SC, ST, and PwD.
  • No Age Bar: There is no age limitation for enrollment in this program. 

Other Important Information:

  • Duration: The program can be completed in a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 5 years. 
  • Fee: The course fee is Rs. 7,300. 
  • Credit System: Students need to earn a total of 64 credits to complete the program. 

 

 BAG(Bachelor of Arts General):

 The IGNOU BAG (Bachelor of Arts General) program is a distance learning BA degree offered by IGNOU. To be eligible, you need to have completed 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board. There is no age limit for admission, and the program can be completed in a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 6 years. 

Course Details:

  • Program: IGNOU BAG (Bachelor of Arts General) 
  • Mode: Distance Learning 
  • Duration: Minimum 3 years, Maximum 6 years 
  • Medium of Instruction: English 
  • Course Structure: The BAG program consists of 132 credits, spread over 6 semesters, each with 22 credits. 
  • Specializations: IGNOU offers the BAG program in various specializations, including Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Mathematics, Hindi, Urdu, English, and Sanskrit. 
  • Fee Structure: The fee for the BAG program is around Rs. 3,800/- for the first year. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Completed 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board.
  • Age Limit: No age restrictions.

  • Check the admission advertisement on the IGNOU website for the last date of submission of the admission form for the January and July admission cycles IGNOU. 

 

CDM (Certificate in Disaster Management)

 IGNOU offers a Certificate in Disaster Management (CDM) course with a minimum duration of 6 months and a maximum of 2 years. The eligibility criteria is a 10+2 or equivalent qualification. There's no minimum or maximum age requirement for the course. 

Course Details:

  • Minimum Duration: 6 Months.
  • Maximum Duration: 2 Years.
  • Eligibility: 10+2 or equivalent qualification from any recognized board.
  • No Age Bar: Minimum and maximum age restrictions are not mentioned.
