Philosophy is one of the founding departments of Ambedkar College. It has started its journey in the year 1991 along with the establishment of the college .The department of Philosophy had been offering only Pass course until 2011.But in the year 2012 Honours in Philosophy was introduced with 20 No. of seats .Till then the department has been running very well with permanent Teachers. Now the department of Philosophy offers both pass and Honours course at the undergraduate level under the affiliation to Tripura University, Suryamaninagar,  West Tripura. The strength of the Department is to uplift the students for future prospect and students are encouraged to participate in seminar, workshop etc.

SWOC ANALYSIS

 STRENGTH

The strength of the Department is to uplift the students for future prospect. Students are encourage to attend and participate in seminar, workshop etc. with the sponsored ship of I.C.P.R the department organized Periodical Lecture programme to benefit the students with their current syllabus.

WEAKNESS

The weakness of the Department is due to improper student- teacher ratio. Enrollment status is very low due to the weak enrollment rate of the neighboring Higher Secondary School.

 OPPORTUNITIES

All students are given equal opportunity for their academic benefits. Students are given equal counseling for the right courses they should opt after completion of UG course.

 CHALLENGES

Some more teaching learning aids are required for effective classes. Step will be taken to increase the enrollment of students especially from the weaker section of the society. To encourage the students to spent extra time on reading. Not enough books for the Department.

LECTURE PROGRAMME

1)     ICPR sponsored Periodical programme held on 16^th March, 2017. The programme was organized at seminar hall of the college. The topic of the lecture was on “SWAMI VIVEKANANDA: IDEA OF SELF”. Swami Hitakanandaji Maharaj, Secretary Ramkrishna Mission, Vivekanagar Agartala, west Tripura was the Resource Person and Mr. Bikasindhu Deb Secretary Ramkrishna Ashram Kumarghat was the invited guest of the programme.

2)     One day Invited lecture Programme was organized by Dept. of philosophy on 19^th February, 2019 at Seminar Hall of the college. Dr. Roitualiana Darlong, Astt. Prof. of philosophy, GDC, Kanchanpur was the Resource Person. The topic for discussion was on “Human Rights and Gender studies” a soft study course for 6^th semester B.A & B.Sc course (summer).

3)     I.C.P.R, sponsored Periodical Lecture Programme was organised on 26^th February, 2019.  The topic of the Lecture was on “Basic values embodied in Indian culture and their relevance to National Reconstruction”. The programme was organized at seminar hall of the college and Swami Tgagibarananda Maharaj, Secretary Ramkrishna Mission; Kailashahar was invited as a main speaker of the programme. The other two Resource persons are Dr. Subrata Sharma, Principal In charge of Ambedkar College and Mr. Aurunanshu Sen, PGT Dept. of Political science, RKM,kailashar .
